With the economy and many personal lives in turmoil, is faith the key to new beginnings for individuals and society?

Our economy is in turmoil, and people have lost faith. As more people lose jobs and worry about their future, they reflexively spend less, feeding the vicious cycle of recession. At the same time we find our economy in decline, many people are trying to fill voids in their lives left by failed relationships, past hurts and disappointments.

Grant Hallstrom, an attorney and former investment officer for a stock brokerage firm, sees a connection between our economic decline and the "emotional black holes" many people struggle to overcome.

According to Hallstom, we have abandoned the foundational principles upon which economic prosperity is based. And that is the same principle that underlines all activity — faith.

Grant Hallstrom has unique expertise to discuss both economic fears and the struggles many people face in their personal lives. He worked six years as investment gatekeeper for a San Diego stock brokerage firm and now works as managing partner for a southern California law firm.

After undergoing a life changing experience several years ago, he wrote the inspirational book Emotional Black Holes to help people find the faith he saw missing in many lives.

Hallstrom's experience in finance, law and helping clients through many difficulties gives him unique perspective to share with audiences, whether secular, spiritual or searching for answers. He sees a direct connection between the underlying issues affecting us both as individuals and as a society.

"Often individuals will face a crisis and then at that point turn to God and find out that there is something more to life — more fulfillment and purpose in life," he says.  "I think the country right now is going through a crisis and has an opportunity to also go through a similar type of rediscovery."
